Healthy eating

Your child's health and nutritional balance is important to me. I therefore ensure that I provide a varied and healthy vegetarian diet every day whilst in my care. The meals are also presented in a creative way to make meal times fun.

I change my menu depending on the age of the child and the time of the year. However, a typical menu would look like:

Breakfast

Variety of cereals, toast with jam, fruit juice and yogurt.

Mid-morning snack

Fruit, biscuits and milk.

Lunch

Sandwiches with a selection of vegetarian fillings, salad, cheese, beans on toast, spaghetti hoops, homemade soup, fruit and yogurt.

Mid-afternoon snack

Crackers, crumpets, fruit and yogurt.

Tea

Always a homemade meal such as pasta dishes, mild curries, casserole, pizza, jacket potatoes with fillings or lasagne. All served with a selection of salads and vegetables.

To drink

I always have plenty of fresh drinking water available at all times. I also encourage children to drink freshly squeezed fruit juice such as apple and orange, and milk as much as they want. I never give any fizzy or sugary drinks to children.

Special occasions

I try to celebrate special days throughout the year such as pancake day with pancakes, Easter with Easter Egg hunts, and of course all of the children’s birthdays with a birthday cake!

I am happy to discuss menus with parents and cater to children with food allergies and cultural/religious requirements. If your child has any particular favourite dish or dislikes please let me know.
