Children learn through play and being in stimulating surroundings. Depending on the children I have and the time of the year, I have a variety of activates for children to take part in.
Indoor
Outdoor
Outings
I plan indoor activities so that children can explore and create with a large range of materials including paints, play-dough, felt, collage materials, coloured sand, wood, glitter and more. In the arts and crafts sessions, children take part in drawing, painting, gluing, colouring, construction using scrap objects, bubble printing and chalks to name a few.
An important element of indoor play is the use of imagination. Here children play with dolls, cars, play kitchen & microwave, play food, dressing up, garage, castle, cardboard boxes, animals, sea creatures and wooden train set.
For older children, they have closely supervised access to computer games and internet as well as cooking.
Weather permitting, I plan outdoor activities to develop their knowledge, language and social skills. Typically, this would include sand and water play, finding mini-beasts, planting vegetables and flowers, our door games, feeding the ducks, going to local parks or swimming.
I also have a programme of activities for the Harrow and Watford museums as well as story time reading at the local library.
Children gain wonderful memories and experiences from going on closely supervised outings that cannot be had within the enclosed environment of my home. These include trips to the many museums in central London, Kew Gardens, Ruislip Lido, Odd Park Farm and many other local open places.
A simple trip to the local garden centre or supermarket can easily be turned into a great learning activity.
In line with my outings policy, all outings are very carefully planned and supervised.
